Haven't played MyPlayer in a few months (even then I was horrible), any tips for an Athletic Shooting guard? I seem to remember you liked boosting mid-range, and vertical last year, but I can't remember what else.

I'd say that Speed plays a bigger role this year. I started with 80 an will definately boost it to 90. Vertical is still important, i couldn't get any rebound in the Rookie showcase. My scoring PG is a beast from midrange tho. 80 might be a good start to get enough points.

Switched to a pg since dimes are MUCH easier to come by now. Quickness seems more important to me cause the players seem so clunky at first.

I play an Athletic 2Guard this year. In my opinion, it's the easiest overall if you're the type that enjoys getting endorsements and what not fairly quick and easy. With the build of a 6'6", 205 pounder, you'll have a decent dunk and layup rating to start with. I believe it's about 70 on the dunk and 85 on the layup. For me, I am boosting my vertical, speed, stamina, passing, and inside shooting the most. So far, I'm around 60-70 games in and have reached an 80 overall(without the purchase of VC), am able to dunk over people like Kobe and Durant, and am about to enter the playoffs with the Sacramento Kings on my back the entire way. Sure, shooting may be an issue, but I'm always one who prefers to attack the basket and take closer ranged shots due to the higher accuracy ratings as well as, well, you can make a lot of highlight plays this way. ;)

I just finished my 3rd evening in a Row trying to get that #1 pick or at least a good pick for my athletic pg. My best possible picks were the warriors (Curry), Cavs (Kyrie) and the Pistons (they just suck). My biggest problem is that my matchups (Lillard and Lamb mostly) are too fast for me. They always pass by and i get bad ratings because i let them score. On the other side i rarely get Good shot defense ratings. So i get to B and lose it almost every time. Also my stamina is always Down by the middle of the 4th quarter, i can't hit anything in that period. Rebounding is another issue, i get lots of over the back calls. In 2k12 there were not even defensive over the backs, now they are called way too often.

Anyone knows exactely what you'll have to reach for the #1 pick? I heard you don't have to get an A+ but you have to Score around 30 pts, record a double double and have a lot of luck.

And what team is the best for a pg this year? I thought the Blazers seem nice, but they draft Lillard even if they draft me first.

you have to do a little bit of everything. Get close to a triple double, at least 25 points. double team a lot and force jump balls and poke balls loose once they are doubled up. run pick and roll all day with anthony davis in the showcase and terrence ross will hit plenty of open 3's. turnovers are very costly on draft stock as well. i had the interview with new orleans for #1 but they asked bs questions that had nothing to do with willingness to play for them, thoughts on the team, etc but i could have done it! lol

nobody wants to hear this but PGs are great on the Heat. LBJ and Wade shoot like 54% when i pass to them and it's always a blowout. I was 6th overall in one MyCareer and they traded me to the Heat for James Jones lol

What happens to my purchases if I cancel my carreer to start a new one on the same account? Will attributes be overtaken to the new career so i already have them in the rookie showcase or are they lost?

you'll lose all attributes.

Thinking of making a long shooting guard (6'8'')

Most likely scoring, or possibly 3pt specialist.

Any advice?

Hello! I started playing nba 2k13 my career and have a few questions regarding stuff I couldn't find out alone, so i would be glad if someone helped me out a bit:)

1. I play SF for Houston Rockets but my coach plays me on PF position. What worries me, is that we don't have proper center and not enough inside presence imho. Starting lineup SF- Parsons 6'10, PF- Me 6'10, C- Patterson 6'10. Is there any way to ask gm to trade in a certain player? Asik doesn't play at all.

2. I want to dunk in traffic but most of the time when I try my player does layup. Any tips on how to dunk in traffic/on ppl? I got dunk 90 vertical 90 and posterizer sig. skill.

3. Some signature skills say they increase your attribute if the conditions are met. Do the attributes increase over 99? For example interceptor lvl 3 says it increases steal by 20 but u need 90 steal to have it. Does it increase to 110 if u have 90 steal or to 99 only?

4. How do I make coach sub me in the 4th quarter? He usually keeps the same players for whole quarter and at the end of it everyone is so tired that they miss open shots.

5. How do u get attribute boosting gear? I saw +stam clothing in video on youtube.

6 Any tips on how to defend star players? We played OKC and I had to defend Durant and before my player could react Durant was at the rim dunking. All he needed was one crossover and 3 steps from 3pt line.

@Timsta and SiMON2g if u play PC version like me u can get only SP and earn it only in Mycareer mode. To earn more SP u need to play better (more points, assist, rebounds, better teammate grade, complete in dynamic goals and make drills) If u play console version u have to make Mycarrer online then u get VC and can earn VC by playing various game modes and FB games and stuff like that.

I finally managed to get the top 3 interviews. Not with an athletic but with a 3pt specialist point guard. I scored 28 points mostly from open 3s. I took every shot i could get and grabbed 5 rebounds in the first 3 quarters. In the 4th I played for assists only and got the double double. Then I had still enough time to get some more points. In the end I had 33 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists, 3 steals and 1 turnover.

Then the interview: I answered all questions from the hornets correctly and the guy said they'd be ecstatic to pick me. I didn't want to go to Charlotte so I answered these questions more negative. Then the great disappointment. The Hornets still selected the Brow over me. I ended up in Washington which is useless since they have John Wall. I immediately turned off my PS3 and hoped that I could repeat the interviews. Instead I have to play the whole rookie showcase agains -.-

Now why didn't the Hornets pick me? Is is because I said "I don't care when I get drafted, I just wanna play for you guys" so they thought they could pick me up with the 10th pick? It's pretty frustrating at the moment.

Nevermind, I played again, was even worse then before with 37pts, 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals but an A teammate rating. And I got the #1 pick this time. It's actually much easier with an 3pt specialist and you obviously don't even need a double-double. Now I need to get my VC high enough to pump my player up, don't want to be cheesing 3s my whole career.

It depends on your Position and your play style. But i would definately try to buy every level at once. For example finisher level 1 doesn't do anything. You also have to check what sig skills your teammates have. You don't need to get floor general if one of your teammates already has it.

So what position are you and how so you play?

Right now I have an athletic pg that im trying to turn into a mid-range/3 shooter with some slashing. So obviously Im going to want to get stuff like the corner shot, and the one that creates space for shots

But I really just mean which ones are better in general. Im sure theres some skills that just work better than others, or skills that are worth getting before others.

Tips to get good ratings per game:

* Use a gamepad! - I'm not sure if anybody's using a keyboard. If you are, you don't know what you're missing.

* Use screens! - Every opponent that bumps you while you're screening(B in gamepad) ups your rating. When I found this out, I always had an A+ game, sometimes as early as the end of the 1st quarter. This is good because when you get to A+, you can ask for passes and commit blunders and not have to worry about your rating anymore. The rating only goes up to A+ but you can accumulate what seems to be infinite plus points so if you get enough, you can pretty much spam asking for passes without affecting your game rating bar at all.

* LT(left trigger) is the Intense-D key. Keep it pressed when playing man-to-man defense. With that said, if you up your defensive awareness enough, your character will react by itself depending on what your opponent does. All shots are contested and if you have high enough block rating, that's auto-block right there.

* Quickness is key. You have no hope of playing effective defense if you have low agility. You'll end up finding that out yourself anyway because your man will always leave you behind without enough of it. Also, it gives you the ability to leave THEM behind when playing offense.

* Box-out! If you like to get rebounds, that's the secret. Timing is a factor as well as your stats, but if you don't box-out properly, you'll just get frustrated.(Box out is LT)

Well im a pg 3pt specialist. Drop as many dimes as you can in the rookie showcase. Then play a few games get traded to the knick. Jason kidd is about to retire. then work on you passing. so you can hit threes and get assist then get consistent double double then work on ball handling skills and your layup and free throw. Before you do this make sure you can shoot close though.

I'm in need of some help. Just made my first online game every and got shat upon heavily but this is just to show you how bad I am. Played some NBA 2k12 in offline association and MyPlayer mode and especially association worked great for me on Pro difficulty. Now on NBA 2k13 I just suck. I've tried the Rookie Showcase like 150 times now, best I got until now was pick number 6 (Blazers) but they just sucked. Lillard and Aldridge had no intention of passing the ball and so I tried it over and over now. Best game so far for me was 28 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals but the highest seeded team interested in me were the 76er's (O.o). But that game was a one off. Now I can't manage to defend, never get the ball, do stupid turnovers. Any general tips for me? For example I let my matchup score 2 baskets early in the game and then get benched nearly the whole game. How am I supposed to get better without playing time? And rebounding is sometimes a joke. My athletic SG is 6'7" and nearly everyone seems to get the rebound except me and I time it perfectly.
I desperately need some good tips besides the usual "play good etc" because that's not really helping me right now.

So which teams in this game need PGs? I'm planning to make a 3pt spec PG, then a Pass First PG.

@ judasmartel: I'm with Miami and can't complain. Actually there is slight issue I got benched after 17point 14 asist 2 reb 2steal game with 0 TO.

@ rebounding questions: U need to pump up hands, rebounding vertical hustle and strenght attributes. Box out as much as possible and position yourself properly and time your jump. Some balls are impossible to get because u basically don't see where it flies. Hope that helps.

Anyways my share of questions would love if someone could anwer them:

What is your experience with steal oriented signature skills? Which one is worth picking most?

Which attributes influence runners? My quess would be shot close and shot off dribble but runner are listed under layups in training so I'm a bit confused

So here it is:

Just made a 6'5, 195lb 3pt specialist SG. Got a B- teammate grade and drafted 9th to the Pistons. I wanted to be with the Hornets (Anthony Davis is a freaking beast in the Rookie Showcase), but I guess the Pistons ain't so bad.

So what do you think, guys?

Whats the role of a basic SG ? I score 40+ a game but i feel that i should be doing more but just scoring ''/

Aside from being the team's best scorer on offense, the SG should be able to guard the other team's best scorer, so that means he has to do a little of everything (rebounding, assists, steals, blocks, etc.).

MyPlayer mode is probably the most frustrating thing however if you are a point guard, i suggest you request a trade to memphis. I start after just 3 games (was drafted by houston, barely played behind lin and demanded a trade). I start at SG which is annoying but I have been getting better. I really see no difference in previous NBAs my player modes... the whole VC system is GARBAGE I get like 100 points per game for going 19/5/10. What is that?? Ive played somehwere around 20 games and have yet to rank up (still a 65 or w/e ). Funniest thing is that you have to pay, use VC, to get the legends tutorial which are like 400 each on average ! So annoying, i just bought the game today and am already getting bored since my played is not getting any better.

Finally got the game today lol. First semester of college finished and finally able to play.

Anyway I was drafted 12th by the Rockets and after MANY games. About maybe 15-20 games played, i'm able to start over Lin and to be honest, this team is pretty frustrating to play with. It isn't even because you get the starting position so much later than the average time(10-15 games), it is the fact that Harden is a ball hog. Yes, he's a great player in this game but Harden just ball hogs so badly, it just annoys the shit out of me.

Like, i'll be open for a wide open 3 and he'll be in the paint, triple teamed and he'll just chuck up a random shot. I just hate playing with him but I don't want to bring it up with the GM or else there's a chance he might get traded lol.

I'm a PG in this game. 6'4". Also, Having Lin at PG and me at SG sometimes is like the best mix because although we both are PG's, him running the PG and then passing it to me and I can easily call out a pick and roll or something really helps out. Lin at PG, if anyone is playing any other position other than PG, the Rockets is a REALLY good team to go for because Lin really distributes the ball very well. Draws the double team and just swings it out to an open man and BANG easy shot.

=======

Will be posting more on what I think about this game soon.

So I lost my "Pistons SG" file, so I have to start over.

This time, I made a 6-5, 205 3PT Specialist SG. Got drafted 7th to the Warriors. Bogut was injured early into the season, so Lee had to be bumped up to C and Landry was made the stating PF. Finally cracked the starting lineup after 15 games, but as the starting SF (I don't really mind if that's what the coach really wanted), with Curry as the PG and Jack as the SG.

I didn't like the team at first, but then it grew on me because they like to pass the ball around a lot, and soon enough I was able to get assists of my own. For some reason I don't like Curry, because sometimes he refuses to pass the ball and instead tries to force the issue. OTOH I'm lovin' David Lee atm, especially after his game winner vs the Wizards.

Surprised to see Richard Jefferson coming off the bench after my first start, but he's pretty solid otherwise. Jenkins is pretty much on the same boat as Curry, but he tends to go beast mode everytime he's on the court. I also think Ezeli really needs some more playing time, but sadly he won't get anymore once Bogut comes back from the injury.

We're currently 13-7, 5th seed in the West just behind the Lakers. I average 21/2/2 on 48/49 FG/3FG shooting. I have to admit, 3pt shooting is ridiculously wet in this game compared to 2k12. I like my scoring numbers, but I really want to add more to my rebs and assts. Any suggestions?

Rebounds I can't really help with other than don't stand DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH THE BASKETBALL HOOP.

Assists are SUPER easy in this game. Idk it might just be me because i'm always an assist/scoring type of person. I would recommend Pick and Rolling like CRAZY with Lee/Landry. No joke, pick and roll in this game are ridiculously easy to execute. ALSO, send some outside or even just the same players that you execute the pick and roll with, anyone who's good at layups, SEND THEM IN FOR CUTS and then just bounce pass it or just directly pass it in to get the easy layup and for your assist.

Ye same. No matter what, a lot of my bounce passes get picked off way too easily just because there's just 1 defender like 3 steps away.

But yea, other than that, you've got an EASY way of getting assists in this game. Just a matter of practicing timing with rebounding and you'll be fine.

Ha ha. The game vs the Heat went down the wire. We held on to the W on a game-winning shot by Jarrett Jack.

We're now 16-7, currently the top seed in the West, and on a 9-game winning streak.

Say, I keep hearing about the Contract Extension glitch, which in effect discourages creating franchise players. That's bad because I want to play for only one team throughout my entire career. However, I've read somewhere on the internet that somebody was able to bypass this glitch by signing a contract on his old team as a free agent instead of through a contract extension.

So what do you guys think about this?

EDIT: I'm having difficulty increasing Teammate Chemistry, but I can increase Fans and Local Fan Support just fine. Any advice?

I've been playing a lot and my team chemistry is only at 59%. And i've only gotten good signs for my team chemistry. and i've played at least like 40 games already lol. Team Chemistry is super hard to get up and my fans number isn't getting up that quickly either. Only at 330,000 I think? Around there.

Also, I would always do free agency and then resign probably. Idk that's just me, but then you run the risk of not signing with your team again because in 2K12. I wanted to resign with the Hawks for a bigger contract after my 2yr/14mill contract was up but when I was checking out what teams were interested in signing me over the off-season, the hawks were nowhere to be seen.

So idk if it's like that in 2K13 or not but I would suspect that it might be? But again, I would still go through free agency just so I have the higher chance of getting a better payroll. Idk. Glitch or run the risk of not being able to sign with your team again but have more VC/Skillpoints(whichever one you do).

Idk up to you honestly.

Alright here's my story..
I made an 6'1 athletic PG and in the Rookie Showcase: 11 points, 13 assists, 4 rebounds, A- teammate grade. Not too bad and got drafted by the hornets at pick #10. Liked what the team was doing until I realized that I had myself, the brow, and Austin rivers on my team.. Is this a glitch because I could've sworn Austin got drafted by the rockets.
But anyway, after about eight games I get the starting job at point, and go off scoring 36 points and 12 assists.
After looking at the injury report I see that Aminu is injured for 4-6 weeks and realize that Ryan Anderson is starting at small forward. Is there any way in which I can get a better small forward without telling the GM to trade a player?

Just wait out the injury and why wouldn't you want Anderson there anyway? He's an assist machine waiting to be used.

You'd just have to wait out the injury and then he'll be put back into PF.

Yep, Austin Rivers is drafted by the Hornets in real life. But Ryan Anderson on the Hornets? In my file, he plays for the Magic. But that's probably because I never bothered to update the rosters because they're still missing players. Sure, they don't seem to be important, but it is to me, given how ridiculously random simulation is in NBA 2K. Superstars suddenly playing like shit, while below 60-70 rating players are playing like fucking All-Stars.

So how was The Brow as a teammate, btw? I would also like to know what issues you have with Anderson, though.

Anyways, here's the continuation of my story.

We're currently 24-8, 2nd best record in the league behind the Bulls and 3.5 games ahead of OKC and the Nuggets for the top seed in the West. We had our 15-game winning streak snapped by the Sixers in a close game.

Bogut was injured early in the season, but started right back for us against the Lakers, but his injury came back. Worse, Richard Jefferson and Charles Jenkins also got injured, but at least we're still winning games.

Our rotation looks like this AFAIK:

PG - Curry - Jenkins
SG - Jack - Thompson - (me, when Rush or Tyler plays SF)
C - Lee - Ezeli - Biedrins
SF - (me) - Tyler - Rush
PF - Landry - Lee

Say, I'm having difficulty closing out games in the 4th quarter, which is bad because I made my SG a 3PT specialist specifically for that purpose. But somehow, I tend to choke in the final minutes. Although I was able to nail some last-second shots sometimes, Curry still saves the day for us. Any advice?

Just wait out the injury and why wouldn't you want Anderson there anyway? He's an assist machine waiting to be used.

You'd just have to wait out the injury and then he'll be put back into PF.

Maybe in his file, Anderson doesn't ever pass the ball. Like I said before, the AI in this game is ridiculously random.

Oh. Then idk what to do about it. He'd just have to wait it out either way then.

Well I started off with Athletic PG, 6'3" 196, quickness and speed seem to help a lot more in 2k13

Dunking is possible immediately, but you'll want to + layup, consistency, off awareness, pass, emotional and all 3 shots with Medium to 80 asap. Also, make sure you max On-Ball Def, stamina (more minutes, fast) , Strength and Low post D, or else youll get beat by 3/4 of PGs out there. Using the MY2k13 app helps, 1000vc per day, plus 1-game boosts in Quick, Speed, Shots, FT, and Defense.

Vertical, Hands, Dribble, and Ball security need to be pretty high as well.

The one thing I did early was max Shoot in Traffic. Since dunk and layup are pretty good at the start, I added 10ppg after focusing on SIT maxing out at 70(I think) also adding skills, G(no fatigue 1st Q) Scrapper, Dimer, Finisher and Microwave

So I finished season one, MVP and 1st team on all but Def. nuggets drafted me late but I like it a lot, Farried, McGee are athletic and excellent for lobs/alley oops, decent scorers, excellent rebounders. Same goes for Andre Iggy and Chandler. Strong and high Flyers. They're decent outside, excellent on D and I can get 10 alley oops on the break with just those 2 alone, 8m quarters after I'm a starter)

Now I had 15.5ppg, 9ast, 3.5 reb, 1.5 steal and .8 block, but after All-Star I got 22ppg, 14ast, 4 reb, and 1 STM and 1 block. Playoffs I'm even better, 26ppg, 14.6ast, 6reb(went from 85 to 95 vert), and 1.5 blk and stls.

So basically, if I could I would have gone with 6'4 or 6'5"...201, but as long as you can time picks for easy assists, play fast early with G skill, you'll start off with 10 pts 5 AST and depending on effort 1-5 rebounds in qtr 1 after you set the essential attributes listed above.

Side note, I like post play, and usually if i can get a good dribble drive rhythm going I can switch to a slower post game and score, and not have to run the court on breaks so much to score/defend easy. To do that, you'll need max low post off, and 65 post hook/fade and 90+ layup, close and inside. But it is worth it once you have med & SHOOT OFF DRIBBLE & the other essentials to 80-85

I'm a PG and I got drafted by the Hornets at pick 10. Got 27pts 8asts and 4 Rebs with an a- didn't even turnover and only allowed 6 Pts against me. After playing (and I mean playing 12 min quarters) off the bench averaging 28 pts and 15 asts. My rebounds are pretty bad only 4 per game I asked for a trade to the thunder and got it. Went on to be All-Star as a bench player. And got All nba 2nd team. Finished with 25ppg and 12apg. Won title with thunder then won again the next year without losing a single game as I played all 82 games averaging 28ppg and 13 apg. I'm in November in my hirs season only lost one game but won last 8 averaging 33ppg and 14apg. Only 75 overall rating, doing all of this on skill points cause when I started it I hadn't renewed my xbox live yet. I'm already a great shooter. What else should I increase and if anyone plays for the thunder and is pretty good and hasn't lost a game tell me.

When you defend lillard, I have realised that he doesn't shoot the three. Unless he is passed the ball and is open. As for lamb the best thing is probably try and stop him from shooting and if he gets to the paint then if you have to rely on guys like Davis, Henson and Drummond.

Also getting steals is important. They run a play where Beal will come off a screen in the corner. That is the perfect time to get a steal.

To save stamina, only turbo if your player gets by you. Just move backwards slowly when they begin attacking. If they pull up for a jump shot, jump and usually you will be close enough for a good contest.

Statistics to aim for are probably 30+ points, 5+ rebounds, 10+ assists, 3+ steals and 50%+ from the field overall.

Hope I have helped. Reply with results/non-results

Hello, I am wondering if anyone can help me please..I have been struggling with this issue for a while now..

I have the Wii version of NBA2k13 and in the My Player mode, I have been drafted in the 2nd round pick 5 and it stated that I earned something like 10Kish Skill Points, however, when it returned to the my player card/homepage, the skill point balance was not affected and said 0?? Do you not gain or earn or get to use the skill points earned when being drafted or is this is a flaw in my game??

I really appreciate your help..THANKS

you earn skill points as you play the game. You should've gained some while you played the showcase? And then afterwards, you still continue to gain skill points by playing the game.

Just got the game on PS3, late i know -_-

Not sure what type of player I want, I'm thinking an Athletic shooting guard 6'8''-6'9'', who can play pick and roll (ball handler). I've already saved up 3k VC and was thinking as soon as my guy gets drafted i'd build my medium up to ~75 because i rely alot on the mid range pullups/spot up's. I'll have to build my passing up so I can accurately run PNR with the big men.

Anyone got any insight on how good athletic players are? Was also thinking maybe a PG, but if I make a SG who is athletic and can get to the hoop/score inside, who is big (6'8'') and is a PNR ball handler, that's better than a PG bar the fact you don't always have the option to dominate the ball.

Im a 6'5 athletic pg and I love it, because you already have the expensive skills out of the way (speed, quickness, etc...) I suggest just building up one way of scoring, and then tailoring your player around that.

I went for layups first so I maxed out my layup, shot inside/close as well as vertical, shot in traffic and consistency so i could rack up easy points and just went from there

I also found that if you can build up your inside game first, your defender sags off you quite a bit, so im getting an easy mid range shot 4/5 times

I hear ya bro, PC player here too, yeah earning points really is a pain on the PC but its kind of nice too in a way when you want to get a more realistic feel to being a basketball player (No pain, no gain). I got a 6'8, 250;bs Athletic SF.

1. Lin almost never passes the ball, even when Kevin Martin went down and I had to take his position he rarely gives me the ball even when I was promoted to starter (probably one of the gimmick 2k made to make the "GM Meetings justifiable") Yeah I've been placed in almost every position in that team except Center.

2. At what level is your posterizer? Sources tell me at level 1 its almost useless. I asked to be traded to Miami, and the best dunk over people I did was during a fast break where I was given an alley oop by LBJ and dunked over Perkins. No sig moves whatsoever with 80 Dunk and 90 Vertical.

3. No clue there sorry..

4.At least you still got your buddies on the court spewing blood due to fatigue lol; I on the other hand Coach Spo, leaves me on the court alone with the bench and had to do PG duties, this often times lowers my point cause I could not even make simple lay ups anymore lol; You could try using the GM Meeting saying "I don't like how the Coach handles things" or something like that. Did that with the Rockets and he benched me when I'm not even tired more often than I could count though as a starter.

5. Sorry no idea...

6. I increased quickness and defensive awareness and it worked wonders on some Superstar big men and some PG's, though since Durant IS a top rank superstar it may still not be enough to stop him entirely or at all, I played one on one with an aging Paul Pierce and he still makes me feel like a total noob so I usually deny him the ball or get him into a position he is most uncomfortable to shoot. Try to keep your foot on the ground and not bite fakes and hope for the best, you still get points for effort though lol;

I usually prefer playing a team game than being a player that scores almost Godlike every night cause it takes away the realism of the game. And the PC version does that. Sure I may not get any individual accolades but what I'm after is a ring as a rookie playing as a role player but sometimes when a game goes good to great 2 alley oops from Wade and LBJ is enough to make me a Superstar every now and then on transition plays. Currently playing the Pacers in the post season with us leading at 3-0, Best match up game for me is with Danny Granger we finished with both 12 pts, but I got 2 blocks on him.

i increased my quickness and speed on my scoring pg and both are over 90, but my guy still seems to be as slow as he was when he got drafted .. any help on fixing this ? cuz i hate being on a fast break and interrupted by the opposing, quicker pg, and it took me a while to upgrade my guy ... I am planning to re-do My Player with updated roster. I prefer the 3pt specialist, though most people here would recommend athletic because it has already high stats on the most expensive ones (like Speed). Problems are:

1. I assume that Athletic = Dunker, but I still can't pull off a dunk even when I'm within dunking range. The player still lays it in instead of dunking it. I kept pressing Clutch + Shoot all the time, but no dunk happens.
2. I really can't see an Athletic PG or SG jacking up 3's all the time. But as I learn playing the game, I realized I should really try driving into the hoop and shooting 3's only when there's no other choice. But still, as stated in #1, I still can't dunk.

In the PSP version of 2k12 (which btw is really hard in higher difficulty levels, as in, a novice like me can't even win games on Pro difficulty; ridiculously broken and riddled with bugs), I became so comfortable playing the combo guard (I'm the PG when the team's primary PG is out, SG if otherwise). I have tried the SF on psp 2k12, but I'm not comfortable with it. I don't think I would try PF and C, I still suck at rebounding on the PC.

My questions are:

1. Should I choose PG or SG? Athletic (best option due to high stats in expensive attributes such as speed) or 3pt specialist (my preferred play style)?
2. Which teams I should try getting drafted to as a PG and as an SG? I don't really want to be drafted into high-rated teams like the Lakers or the Heat, I just want to be in a team that badly needs a PG or an SG.
3. Should I use WSAD or arrow key controls for movement?

Good and quick answers are appreciated. Thanks a lot.

I think with that speed you are already very fast at 90quickness and speed but truth of the matter is though you may outrun bigs, PG's especially Rose, Jennings etc are also very fast, it will all be up to where your run began, if you start running from beneath the basket court to court you might get caught by an opposing PG who is standing nearer to the center line, another factor would be your stamina and how much is left in the tank. 2k13 has so many realistic factors built into it that sometimes it takes the fun out of the game but if you are die hard Basketball fan you will welcome the challenge...

No easy road bro just play smart especially during the Key Games where it has those multipliers, some of the challenges in the game may be hard to achieve during the early stages of your career so don't let it bother you that much it takes time really but its good if you could pull it off even once in a while.

I'd say shooting-guard. Athletic. Improve your shot and dribble, and be about 6'6.

You can be a good scorer for any position, it's all about thinking what play-type will work best for you, what I list above is just what I recommend for being a scorer who would dunk with ease.

Layup

This might be a bitter pill to swallow my friend and I based this from my experience with my former Heat SF 6'8" 250lbs, even if you have 99 Dunk and 99 Vertical it will still be not enough because of the speed at quickness factor. Basically, the way to a successful dunk is ...Player Separation, if you could somehow blow by your defender even for a brief moment using isolation moves or through picks your character will perform a dunk move using the Turbo and Shoot button. 2k probably knows the trigger happy nature of players to go for dunks so they cleverly used the most expensive stat on the game as one if not the most important factor in achieving a perfect dunk. If your player has already enough Dunk points, and manage to get into the air before a shot blocking center gets to leave the ground, then you get a poster (Already did that with a dunk on Ibaka off a Lebron James pick. and it was sweet) A very rare stat achievement will also appear on top of your stat screen, "Contact Dunk" which adds to the "Dunk" Achievement. Technically this is quite a realistic thing that 2k decided to put on the game. Oh btw another way to get by a defender is effective off ball movements so that your team mate can give you an alley oop, just make sure your Hands attribute is respectable.

So the next time you see CP3 Do a dunk try to see where he took off from rather than be mesmerized by the Dunk itself. Did he perform a dribble move before the Dunk? Another thing btw to think of is the double team factor especially when you already have much achievement more often than not they will Guard you down, playing in Miami the defense breaks down when you got a Big 4 including myself lol; that is why its a bit easier to find alleys to dunk on. Now I play for the Hornets being the 10th pick, really annoying team even with Anthony Davis with me because of defensive lapses. But I'm hopeful I can turn this team around sooner or later lol;

Good Luck!

Play all games my friend every little bit helps in making a better player, As for the Signatures i'm not really adept on that yet but when it comes to defense try to strive to max out quickness and speed as much as leveling up those defensive attributes, to avoid getting blown by the ball handlers, for the pass just upgrade our passing attribute but it is a balancing act of defense and offense if your three point shooter is not consistent then having great defense and passing can only get you so far.

good luck

Hey, so, I just made a new 2 Guard since I just had to buy the game on PS3 since my xbox broke, and I'm not really sure which skills I should upgrade first and all that. He's a 6'5" 3pt Specialist, and he plays for the Kings. The Kings kind of have me playing as a Combo Guard to compliment Tyreke.

I made my 6ft 6, 200 lbs athletic PG and got picked by the Raptors. I've been mainly improving my layup and inside and close stats but I'm wondering if it's too late to start boosting the 3pt (60 games in)
Also what the hell is wrong with Lowry? He just hardly ever passes me the ball and he just seems to dislike me.
Another thing, I'm playing on PC and earning (tiny amounts) of skill points only in career mode. Is this normal for PC or did I do something wrong in my setup?
